Mask wearing is no longer mandatory for health care workers in NHS hospitals and many patients are still catching Covid upon admission to hospital. This is a real problem for not only those with Long Covid or ME/CFS (it's well established that new infections can make these conditions significantly and possibly permanently worse) but to anyone requiring hospital attention.

We have already established in the Research page that there is a mass of existing literature showing the acute and long term damage that each infection can cause to the human body.

NHS workers must follow the 'DO NO HARM' mantra and protect their patients from Covid infections to prevent further death, disability and illness.

"One of the paper’s lead authors, Burnet Associate Professor Nick Scott, said on average, 15-25% of patients who tested positive for COVID-19 in hospital had contracted the virus after being admitted.

“The data also showed mortality was 6 percentage points higher for people who caught COVID-19 in hospital, compared to controls who did not,” he said."

How do we prevent Covid infections?

High quality masks such as N95 (available on Amazon here) have been shown in studies to reduce Covid particles by up to 98%.

N95 masks are near-perfect at blocking escape of airborne Covid-19

"Study finds all masks effective, but “duckbill” N95 masks far outperform others, suggests they should be the standard in high-risk settings"

"Air filtration machines were placed in Covid wards and the air quality analysed with the machines switched on for a week, off for a week, and then on for another week.

The team found that with the machines on, it removed almost all traces of airborne SARS-CoV-2."
