WE ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE GREATEST MASS-DISABLING EVENT IN HUMAN HISTORY!

There are currently 1.9 million people in the UK reporting Long Covid according to ONS figures , 381,000 of whom are seriously debilitated (~19%).
The UK economy is substantially impacted with a £5.7B loss in productivity

2.8 million people in the UK are out of work on long term sickness.

At least 65 million globally have Long Covid

Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, 250,000 people in the UK have ME/CFS

Long Covid can have a lower quality of life than late-stage cancers

ME/CFS can have a significantly lower quality of life than lung cancer and renal failure .

There are currently no effective treatments for Long Covid .

NICE: “There is no known treatment specifically for long COVID.”

There are no treatments approved for ME/CFS.

CDC states: "There is no cure or approved treatment for myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS)".

Despite the increasing need for research and treatments, the government has thus far spent £50 mn on LC research, which translates to £26 per patient over a three year period, or £6.58 per patient per year. Almost none of this has gone into biomedical research that will understand and treat the disease.

ME/CFS receives approximately 0.02% of all active awards given by these mainstream agencies.

All-Party Parliamentary Group on coronavirus called for £100mn a year in funding a year,, which would translate to £52.63 per patient per year .

Long Covid is costing UK workers a total of £1.5bn a year in lost earnings, and there are 110,000 workers missing because of Long Covid

Long Covid is also costing the NHS up to £60M a year in GP appointments.

"In the UK, more than 250,000 people have Myalgic Encephalomyelitis / Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS), a devastating illness that is estimated to cost the British economy £3.3 billion per year"
